Most of these cities experience a rise in their local real estate market
immediately before and after they hosted the Olympic Games. Hence the term,
"Olympic Estate" was born.
1992, Barcelona
Olympic Games. From 1986~1993, the residential value in Barcelona increased 250%-300%.
After the large scale city rebuilding and investment in all sorts of amenities,
the city took a full new look. Meanwhile, supported by the "Ad effect"
of Olympic Games, the middle-grade city, which was not well-known too much
in the past, jumped up to the 7th biggest city in Europe.
1996, Atlanta
Olympic Game. There was a 30% average increase in the value of
the buildings around the Olympic Park before and after the Olympic Games.
Those advanced communication facilities and hotel, as the legacy of the Olympic
Game, successfully attracted many conferences to be held there, making Atlanta the reputation of "Conference City".
2000, Sydney Olympic Games. It greatly propelled
Sydney's construction, improving local eco-environment, promoting the development
in traffic, tourism, real estate, etc., all of which help Sydney to be better
known.
